He urged the state top officials to rapidly initiate vaccinations to prevent unnecessary deaths of Lagos citizens in its 20 LCDAs.
Fawehinmi noted the residents can be quickly vaccinated so that "we don’t record unnecessary preventable deaths in Lagos State."
He noted that his call for speedy vaccination is based on "the knowledge of what we know now as regards internally generated revenue, Lagos State is extremely buoyant."
Given this fact, he wrote: "This, I humbly suggest should be done within one week period."
He also requested that "all the refuse piled up should be cleared immediately."
He also alerted: "It is very sad that the resultant effect of the monumental and humongous piles of refuse in the key cities of Lagos namely Oshodi, Isolo, Mile2, Festac, Agege, Ketu, Ojota, Mile 12, Mushin, Suru-lere [specifically Ojuelegba metropolis], Yaba, Ikotun, Oyingbo, Maryland/Anthony, Lagos Island, Ikeja, Abulegba, Egbeda, Iyana-Ipaja, Igando, Bariga, Iyana Oworo, Iyana Iba, Okokomaiko, Ajangbadi and Badagry; has brought about a deadly kind of Malaria."
Fawenhinmi also gave a personal encounter of how malaria gravely dealt with him. He notes:
"I personally fell victim to it. But, I thank God that I was quickly bundled to Nahome Clinic run by Dr. Benneth Medubem (Benny Oloro). The doctor competently administered drugs and effected qualitative treatment on me for four days consecutively.
"He then sat me down and educated me about the refuse that was left unattended to, and its hazards to those involved and living near them. The mosquitoes have now gained ground, and considered themselves very lucky using these refuse dumps as profitable ventures and breeding grounds. The rats too have created their own industry, so there is every possibility that LASSA Fever and Malaria would have started their own strike killer force for unsuspected and innocent Lagosians."
He therefore implored and seriously plead with the relevant authorities to do the needful to prevent the unfortunate but pending epidemic if left unattended to.
